A Hummingbird’s Delight

A lonely flower fell asleep one night and slept to the peaceful sound of rain

Its petals were softly spattered upon by cool tiny droplets again and again

By the light of dawn the flower rose and stretched its leaves out wide like open arms

The surrounding trees and field  were given more life by the flower’s brilliant charm

It bloomed so beautifully so colorfully — my oh my, it was such a lovely sight

That it quickly became the friend so adored — much to a hummingbird’s delight
